His Treat by Penelope Bloom (Review)

Synopsis:

Having a hot boss isn’t complicated or confusing at all,
Said no one ever…
But all I have to do is resist for a few months.
Come January, I’m flying to Paris to chase my dream of being an artist,
Too bad I can’t have my treat and eat it, too.

I forgot to mention… My hot boss was also my high school crush.
Sort of.
First, I wanted to crush him with gooey affection.
In the end, I just plain wanted to crush him.
Now he’s back, and he might as well have “do not touch” printed on his chest.
One tiny question: would it count if I didn’t use my hands?

Let me answer my own question. Yes, Emily, you raging horndog, it counts. Besides, my dream is practically waiting for me like a perfectly wrapped, shiny little package if I can just behave. I’d be an absolute idiot to risk that, and I have a long, proud history of not being an idiot to protect.

Unless it’s kind of like when you do really well in class all semester so you can afford to flunk a test at the end. Three months is a long time, and if he’s the one giving me the big, fat, dirty “F”, it does add a little dose of temptation to the equation.

But all I have to do is one quick job for him. A few posters and a few props for a big Halloween party that he’s hosting.

Then I just walk away from his dreamboat eyes and perfect body, grab a plane, and forget about all the beautiful children we could’ve squeezed inside our white picket fence.

Review:

5 stars.
Penelope Bloom has a knack for writing romantic comedies.  I read His Banana and Her Cherry and was snorting coffee up my nose from laughter.  His Treat left me bent over laughing.  I have no idea how this author comes up with such funny situations and witty banter, but I love it!

Ryan works for William (Her Cherry) and Bruce (His Banana) at their company, Galleon.  He also took over Hailey’s bakery and has created very successful franchises.  He friend-zones every woman as he has been burned multiple times in the past.  He is overly cautious when it comes to relationships, yet he can’t help being drawn towards Emily.  Emily is an artist who agrees to create props and artwork for Ryan’s company’s Halloween party.  She has lofty goals and does not want to start anything with Ryan even though she is attracted two him.  It seems like the two need a little push to get together.  Both characters are wonderful and well developed.  They both have great personalities with lots of humor, but they are also vulnerable.  You cannot help, but love Ryan’s vulnerability and the scheme that he comes up with at the end.

While this book features characters from her previous 2 books - His Banana and Her Cherry, this book can be read as a standalone.  I do love that William as well as Hailey’s crazy, sex-obsessed grandma are featured prominently in this book as well as scenes with Bruce and Natasha.  William and his crazy matchmaking antics are extremely entertaining.  Lilith, Emily’s friend, is something else and Steve, Ryan’s roommate, was a hoot.

Told from a dual POV, His Treat is a very enjoyable, fast-paced romantic comedy with wonderful main characters as well as secondary characters.  This is a humorous book with unique and creative situations and witty banter.  I received this book as an ARC and I voluntarily leave this review.

The Book About Bruce:

About the Author:

I'm so proud and extremely thankful to my readers for making me a USA Today Bestselling author and Amazon top 10 best selling author!

I love writing romances that I'd want to live in. I like my men with a mind as dirty as sin, a bit of an attitude, and a heart of gold they try to keep hidden away. I absolutely love writing about BDSM, but it's not featured in all of my stories. Check the bottom of my bio for a super quick breakdown of my books and which one might suit your style.

I stepped away from my job as a high school teacher to pursue my dream of writing in October of last year. Writing had always been my dream, but it took having my two beautiful daughters to push me to follow through with it. I wanted to be able to show my girls that nothing is impossible. No dream is too big. No matter what anyone tells them.

They just have to look at their mommy to see it. Being a positive example for my girls is worth all the late nights, doubts, and fears that come with being a writer. I wouldn't trade it for the world.

Whew! Look at me getting emotional over here. It's just an author bio, Penelope!
