New Release and Review: LEGACY OF LIES by Tara Leigh

Money. Status. Wealth. Power.
I believed I was entitled to all of it.
My legacy.

Jolie Chapman.
I thought I was entitled to her, too.
My love.

In a scandal that set our families against each other, I lost.
My legacy. My love.

I was heir to a throne built on lies, my crown forged from corruption.
Stripped of everything I'd been raised to consider my birthright.
Including my princess—who wasn’t mine, after all.

I’ve spent the past decade rebuilding my life, on my own terms.
Money. Status. Wealth. Power.
They’ve been earned.
Now I’ve returned to Manhattan for redemption, too.

Jolie wasn’t supposed to be here.
… And I wasn’t supposed to care.

Screw me once, shame on you. Screw me twice—
Who am I kidding? I don’t believe in second chances anymore.

This is the full length sequel to the novella Throne of Lies.  Throne of Lies must be read before this book for it to make sense.  In Throne of Lies, we were introduced to Tripp and Jolie - a very young couple in love, who had their world torn upside down.  Told from a dual POV, this book, is set 10 years later.

After what occurred with their families, both Tripp and Jolie are trying to pick up the pieces of their lives.  While things between them ended badly, they both never forgot their love for each other or the hurt they experienced.  In the beginning, Tripp is online masquerading as his business part via emails with Jolie. The exchange between the two of them is hilarious!  When the two finally reconnect, sparks fly even with feelings of hurt between them.

I gave Throne of Lies one of my rare 5 star reviews and Legacy of Lies is even better.  The two characters matured and were clearly shaped by their past.  Tripp and Jolie are still very likable characters with great chemistry.  They have their flaws and they both made mistakes - in a way, Jolie’s more so than Tripps.  I don’t want to give anything away, but this book is full of twists and turns, violated trust, lies, secrets, stunning revelations, and betrayal along with forgiveness, compassion, and second chances.  Their road to happiness is full of trials and not an easy journey.  Legacy of Lies is the conclusion to Tripp and Jolie’s story and the author tied everything up with a nice epilogue.  This book moved at a good pace, had likable main characters, drama, and even a bit of suspense.  You go through all the feels of anger, love, heartbreak, and hope.  I received this book as an ARC and I voluntarily leave this review.
