Book Review: Wicked Ruin (Se7en Sinners bk 3) by S.L. Jenning

Wicked Ruin
S.L. Jennings
Genre: paranormal romantic suspense
Series: Se7en Sinners, book 3

Synopsis:

They say you're never truly ready for Death until it's staring you down, its cold, bony fingers outstretched and scratching against your fragile mortality.
I thought I was ready the day my own mother tried to kill me. Perhaps I was ready the moment I was born.
But as I peer into the chilling void of Death, breath shallow and heartbeat sluggish, I know that it can't end like this. I was made for a purpose.
And that purpose is Legion.
Now that we're fighting the battle of our lives, a war that could eliminate mankind, I see that purpose as clear as the whorls of dark ink etched in his skin.
Realms are colliding. Alliances are forming. And my heart is being torn in two.
I know the code the Se7en live by.
Kill one to save a million.
But maybe it's not me who was meant to die.
Maybe it's the man I thought I could save...the man who once saved me.
The man I was created to kill.

*Wicked Ruin is book 3 in the Se7en Sinners series.  Born Sinner (#1) and End of Eden (#2) must be read first.

Review:

4 stars This series just keeps getting better and better!  Wicked Ruin is book 3 in S.L. Jennings Se7en series and the first 2 books must be read first. The story continues with the Seraph trying to eradicate mankind because humans are sinners and now the Se7en and the Alliance are working together to defeat them.

Eden is starting to come into her Nephilim powers, yet no one quite knows the extent of them or what powers she has inherited from Uriel. I felt that Eden was a lot less wishy-washy than how she behaved in the last book - that she is back to being a hard-core heroine.  In Wicked Ruin she is back to being that strong, self-sufficient heroine who wants to keep her friends safe and save her beloved Legion.  She is definitely no damsel in distress.  Legion is so strong and powerful, but the many lost souls are trying to take over.  My heart breaks to see him change so much in the book. The Se7en and Eden are devastated to see that there friend is no longer present.  It gets to a point that Eden is no longer so confident in their love or relationship.  I was happy that Lucifer played a much more prominent role.  I do love the villain!  It was also interesting to learn more about him and discover that maybe there is more to him than fire and brimstone.  I love Nikolai’s character and I was happy that he too had a bigger role in the book.  For me, I got wrapped up in Cain in that I enjoyed seeing a softer, more vulnerable side of him.

Like the previous 2 books, Wicked Ruin is full of shocking revelations.  Things that you think you know are not so much cut and dry.  There are several twists and turns keeping you entertained until the very end.  The author continues to do a great job with world building and it is interesting to see how she incorporates events from the Bible, yet puts her own spin on things.  More and more is revealed about the characters - their pasts and their motivations which leave you questioning if the characters are truly as good or bad as you once believe.  The cliffhanger is killer and if will have you jumping right into the next and final book (which is already available) of the series.
