Friday Round-Up: What's On Your Bookshelf?

Happy Friday everyone!  What are you all up to? My mother-in-law is visiting so we are going to go out and have a nice dinner tonight.  So . . . it’s time for the Friday book round up!  Share in the comments what is on your bookshelf or what you are currently reading.

This week’s themes include a romantic suspense trilogy and 2 rockstar romances.

4 stars Fall is book 3 in Kristen Callihan’s VIP series and it was recently released. I loved Idol and Managed so much that I had to download Fall the day it went live!  While this is the third book in a series, I do believe it can be read as a standalone, but there is some character overlap. This book has humor, romance, and serious emotions all wrapped into one entertaining read. Jax (the lead singer of Kill John) and Stella are charismatic, strong and likable characters who you cannot help but love. While this book has a ton of humor, Fall touches upon some serious subject matter such as depression, anxiety, and a past suicide attempt and the author’s portrayal of mental illness to be spot on.  Anna's Bookshelf Review.

The first time I met Jax Blackwood things went a little sideways.

In my defense, I didn’t know he was Jax Blackwood—who expects a legendary rock star to be shopping for groceries? More importantly, a blizzard was coming and he was about to grab the last carton of mint-chocolate chip.

Still, I might have walked away, but then he smugly dared me to try and take the coveted ice cream. So I kissed him. And distracted that mint-chip right out of his hands.

Okay, it was a dirty move, but desperate times and all that. Besides, I never expected he’d be my new neighbor.

An annoying neighbor who takes great pleasure in reminding me that I owe him ice cream but would happily accept more kisses as payment. An irresistible neighbor who keeps me up while playing guitar naked–spectacularly naked–in his living room.

Clearly, avoidance is key. Except nothing about Jax is easy to ignore—not the way he makes me laugh, or that his particular brand of darkness matches mine, or how one look from him melts me faster than butter under a hot sun.

Neither of us believes in love or forever. Yet we’re quickly becoming each other’s addiction. But we could be more. We could be everything.

All we have to do is trust enough to fall.

Other Books in this series:

Idol (VIP #1)

Managed (VIP #2)

3.5 stars Chasing Eva (In the Shadows #1)
4 stars    Loving Eva (In the Shadows #2)
4 stars    Killing Eva (In the Shadows #3)

I am going to discuss these next 3 books together as they are a part of a romantic suspense trilogy.  Camellia Hart is a new author to me and I definitely plan on reading more of her books.  I loved the romance between Eva and Clive. The characters are interesting and strong, there is romance, some steamy scenes, suspense, mystery, and great secondary characters.

Book 1: Chasing Eva
Amazon   Barnes and Noble (paperback)

When Eva and Clive meet in the office elevator fifteen years after they’ve seen each other last, their mutual attraction not dulled one bit, they’re tempted to explore their intense, undeniable, chemistry further.

But then Eva discovers that the sinfully gorgeous Clive is the powerful businessman who’s causing her company’s downfall. She’s determined to sway her newfound enemy to reconsider his betrayal. They’re not even halfway through that debate, when they’re drawn to each other with a force neither of them anticipates.

Having lived through her share of disloyal relationships Eva’s sworn off heartbreaker men. No way she’ll fall for this assertive, enigmatic playboy.

But Clive isn’t one to give up that easily, or at all for that matter. She doesn’t know, he’s been chasing Eva since their first kiss fifteen years ago.

Book 2: Loving Eva
Amazon    kobo

Barnes and Noble (paperback)

The sensual trilogy of Eva and Clive continues in the hotly anticipated follow-up to Chasing Eva...

He’s addicted to her. He’s obsessed by her. He cannot stay away from her. He doesn’t want to. He couldn’t bear to. But when demons from his past threaten his future with Eva, he must make a devastating choice. A choice that may lead him to lose her…forever.

Her days are darkening. She’s losing all control. Her only anchor is Clive. But her troubles are mounting, and she’s pulling him with her into deep danger. Will their limitless passion overcome it all? Or will she lose him too...forever.

Book 3: Killing Eva

The sensual trilogy of Eva and Clive concludes in the hotly anticipated follow-up to Loving Eva...

It started as a crush. Then a kiss. Then fifteen years of separation, and the agony of not knowing where or how to find Eva, the only girl he’s ever loved.

And when she returns to him it’s like a dream come true. He’ll never let her go.

She’s his beginning. She’s his end. She’s his now, and his forever. Then how did he let it come to this? How did he lose Eva?

He’s got to find her. He’s got to bring Eva back… or go where she’s gone.

4 stars Kissing Vicious (Hearts of Metal #1)

I have been meaning to read Kissing Vicious for a while now as it had been recommended in many of my favorite author’s FB pages.  Now I am wondering why I waited so long to read it!  I always love a good rockstar romance and this one does not disappoint.  A female roadie and amazing guitar player?!  How can you not love a heroine like that! I loved both Kinley and Quinn. I am looking forward to reading the rest of the series.  Anna's Bookshelf Review

Aspiring guitarist Kinley Black is about to get her first big break—as a roadie for Viciöus, her favorite heavy metal band, and for the rock god she always dreamt might make her a woman.

At 15, aspiring guitarist Kinley Black wished she were a boy. At 16, after hearing Quinn Mayne sing, she wanted him to make her a woman. Now, at 22, her dreams have come true. Quinn’s band Viciöus needs someone to lug their amps around the country, to strive and sweat with the guys. She just has to act like one of them.

Quinn had to admit the new chick could pull her weight, but that didn’t mean his road manager made the right choice. Taking a hottie on a heavy metal music tour was like dangling meat in front of a pack of feral hounds—and Quinn could be part dog himself. But more surprising than her beautiful body are Kinley’s sweet licks, so that no man could help but demand a jam session. Quinn will soon do anything to possess her, and to put Kinley in the spotlight where she belongs. And to keep her safe and sound from the wolves.
