Friday Book Round Up

Happy Holidays and Happy New Year!  I hope that you all had a great, relaxing, fun-filled and safe  holiday. Ours was pretty relaxing.  Given that our families live in other cities/states, we didn't really have much planned. I read a couple of these books last week so I thought that I would include them in this book round-up.

I read 2 intense and amazing NA novels that left me in a major book hangover, a highly anticipated rock star romance by one of my favorite authors, and a romantic suspense that kept me on the edge of my seat.

5 stars To be honest, I wasn't even sure I would like this book based off the blurb, but it was SO good that I am still thinking about it a full week later. This is a NA romance that touches upon two college students who have this intense gravitational pull towards each other, yet things keep getting in their way. You start to wonder, what if x happened or didn't happen, would y have turned out differently?  It was one of those right person, wrong time.  The book is beautifully written with likable characters.  They were strong, but they also had their weaknesses.  You could see how they had the budding maturity of a young adult, yet still had some immaturity that you see among college students.  At times, I wondered if they would get their HEA.

If you knew love would hurt you, would you fall? If you knew love would leave you, would you let it go? If you knew love could never be, would you try?

From bestselling author Randi Cooley Wilson comes a gut-wrenching love story about heartbreak, second chances, and letting go. The ifs that linger between the pages of this novel will break your heart and stay with you long after the final chapter.Emerson Shaw thought she’d left her old life behind her, but when she returns home for her best friend’s wedding, she has no idea her past is waiting to reclaim her. Dark and broken, Lincoln Daniels never wanted to find love. But when he met straight-laced Emerson, he fell. Hard. The only thing they seemed to have in common was an undeniable mutual attraction, but from the moment he laid eyes on her, there was something about her that called to him. Until he lost her. Tormented by demons and consumed by dark desires, it took years to slowly glue together the shattered pieces of their what ifs. Just when Emerson is finally ready to let go and stop existing in a past full of pain and regret, Lincoln returns, turning her life upside down. What begins as a tentative friendship quickly escalates, and the two soon realize that all the ifs lingering between them no longer matter.
If is a love story about two damaged people whose future depends on promises made in the past. What happens when two broken people meet, fall in love, and realize they can never be? What happens when all the what ifs no longer make sense? If you knew your heart would break, would you still fall? This book is intended for mature audiences.

5 stars  I first discovered Wynne Roman about a year ago when I devoured Wycked Crush and Wycked Rumors.  I was so excited because Noah and Paige's story was going to be released shortly.  Well, sometimes characters do not cooperate and the author scrapped the entire book and listened to their voices.  Many months later, Wycked Escape was released and let me tell you it was well worth the wait!  The prologue was tough to read - as it is mean to be for you get to feel Paige's heartbreak as though it was your own.  Noah, a playboy rockstar, is known for his threesomes.  The prologue is about his first threesome in high school.  It is the only scene in the book that depicts a menage.  Wycked Escape is a story of forgiveness and second chances and is beautifully written.

Paige Hamilton

I’ve loved Noah Dexter from the first day I met him. He was even mine for a little while, my high school boyfriend. Then he hurt me clear through to my soul. Another girl seduced him into a lifestyle of sharing and threesomes, and I had to walk away to save myself. Now, five years later, it’s Noah who saves me, but can I trust him? His reputation says no, but my heart wants to believe that he can understand what he did to me all those years ago and not hurt me that way again.

Noah Dexter

I’m a manwhore with one hell of a reputation. The drummer for the rock band Wycked Obsession, I’ve lived a life of fame, parties, and women. Lots of ‘em, and most of the time, two girls at once. I’m known for it. But all that is getting old, making me jaded, coming back to haunt me with accusations of STDs and knocking up some chick I don’t even know. When I get a chance to help my high school girlfriend, Paige Hamilton, I take it gladly. She’s the only girl I ever wished I could have kept, and maybe if I can help her, it’ll give me—us—a second chance.
**This is an adult rock star romance intended for mature audiences. Not appropriate for readers under 18.**

No cliffhangers. Guaranteed HEA. Book 3 in the Wycked Obsession series, the beloved fantasy of romance between hot rock stars and the ordinary women who love them. While this is a stand-alone romance, your reading experience may be enhanced by starting with the first two book in the series, Wycked Crush and Wycked Rumors (in that order).

5 stars yes, another 5 star review - it has been a good 10 days for reading!  Easy was my first book by Tammara Webber and when the book ended, I immediately dived into the second book Breakable which is told from the hero's POV (Breakable is not a retelling of Easy.  Yes, some of the scenes are similar, but there are so many other things that we learn about Landon/Lucus that it feels like an all new story).  Easy is another NA college romance that left me reeling and I decided that I would definitely re-read this story.  The book is full of angst, humor, sweetness, and hope.  I loved Jaqueline and Lucus and admired their strength and perseverance. *Trigger:  the opening scene is about an attempted rape. *.

Rescued by a stranger.
Haunted by a secret
Sometimes, love isn't easy...

He watched her, but never knew her. Until thanks to a chance encounter, he became her savior...
The attraction between them was undeniable. Yet the past he'd worked so hard to overcome, and the future she'd put so much faith in, threatened to tear them apart.
Only together could they fight the pain and guilt, face the truth - and find the unexpected power of  love.

A groundbreaking novel in the New Adult genre, Easy faces one girl's struggle to regain the trust she's lost, find the inner strength to fight back against an attacker, and accept the peace she finds in the arms of a secretive boy.

Barnes and Noble:

4 stars Some of you may know Eden Summers by her Reckless Beat rockstar series, but did you know that she also writes romantic suspenses?  Decker is one of those such books. Keira is a feisty, determined youngest sister of a crime lord family.  She finds herself in a situation where she needs protection and Decker, on of the brother's right-hand men is in charge.  Things are not always as they seem though.  This book was filled with action, betrayals, suspense, and of course love.
