Book Review: TIED by Carian Cole

Carian Cole
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Series: All Torn Up #2

Two hearts tied together by hope and tragedy.
An unexpected smile.
A touch on scarred flesh. A kiss on waiting lips.
An undeniable love that overcomes all doubt...

My childhood and innocence were stolen when I was kidnapped at five years old and held captive for eleven years. Now, at eighteen years old, I don't know what love, happiness, or hope feels like anymore. I'm numb and lost, clinging to a childhood fairytale of a happily ever after with the prince I hoped would someday save me.

I had no idea my prince would come in the form of a scarred recluse, covered in tattoo's, who won't--or can't--speak a word.

The moment our eyes met I knew he was the one. My prince. The one I knew would save me.

He's possibly as lost in society as I am, scarred just as much on the inside as the outside. Just like me. Haunted by his tragic past, he's sentenced himself to a lifetime of loneliness.

He saved my life that day he found me in the woods, and although he doesn't speak or smile, I can't stop thinking about him. I ache to hear his voice and see him smile. And I want nothing more than to be the one to break through his walls.

Together, we found love, happiness, and a closeness that once felt impossible to have. But can I save him from himself, and the twisted past that ties us together?

** Tied can be read as a standalone, and has no cliffhanger. However, I do plan to write a follow-up book for this couple.

5 stars  I think that Tied may be my favorite of all of Carian Cole’s Books. This book is emotionally heartbreaking and also sweet at the same time.  This author beautifully weaves an intricate story of two broken people drawn together as they struggle to overcome physical and emotional scars caused by devastating tragedies. I absolutely adored Holly.  She is a very strong heroine - a survivor who is trying hard to acclimate to life after being kidnapped as a young child.  As she struggles to adapt, I can see how she feels that gravitational pull towards Tyler.  Tyler is a wonderfully unique hero.  He is handles his demons by isolating himself from others, but he is also vulnerable, misunderstood, and very caring.  I just want to wrap this damaged man in a big hug (and then kiss him senseless).  The storyline of this book is unique and well written by this author.  She creates complex, likable characters and she addresses the sensitive subject matter with respect.  The evolution of Ty and Holly’s relationship is slow, romantic, compassionate, and beautiful.  Another thing that I enjoyed is how the author explores the after effects that occurred once Holly was rescued as well as Tyler’s family being affected by his tragedy and self-imposed isolation.   I just could not put down this book.  I am pleased to see that there will eventually be a follow-up book as I there are some things that I would like to see - Tyler letting go of some of his reclusive natured, Holly’s family situation, etc.
