One of the things that I love about anthologies is that it provides the reader with a taste of various authors’ works. It is the perfect opportunity to not only read stories from my favorite authors, but also a chance to discover new ones. The Dark Kingdom Anthology is a romance anthology featuring a dark and modern take on classic fairytales. I found each story within these pages to be clever and unique and while there were a few that I had trouble connecting with, there were many that did enjoy. Below are my thoughts on my favorite stories.
~The Prince of Ruin by Gemini Jensen
This is perhaps my favorite of all of them and is a clever take on Aladdin. Dean is “danger embodied” with an intriguing backstory. Yazzy, a captive and sheltered princess, is quite feisty. This is a story that captured my attention immediately and I truly hope that this author expands this into a full length novel.
~Beast by Any Other Name by Logan Fox
This story is delightfully dark and twisted! Pippa and Brandon are both flawed and very interesting characters. The plot was well executed and the mystery and suspense were very entertaining.
~King by Raven Amor
I love MC romances and this short story about Beau “Cub” and Nera hit the spot. The characters and storyline were engaging and I also hope that the author plans to develop their story into a full-length book.
I read an early version of this anthology.
