Review + Guest Post: INFLUENCED by Patricia Josephine

Do you ever wonder about those tiny little influencers sitting on each shoulder?  The sliver of an angel and sliver of a devil coaxing your choices as they whisper in your ear trying to draw one towards the light or the dark side?

Are you a Light or Dark Influencer?

Be sure to take the quiz at the bottom of this post to see if you are a Light or Dark Influencer!

There is no Light without Dark.

Influencers are the voices that whisper in our ears. Tiny Angels and Devil sitting on our shoulders and guiding our choices. They are sworn to thwart the other. It is their duty.

Or so they thought…

Nothing is as it seems and questions are piling up. Do Kale and Ariel have the strength to face the truth? Will Antonia and Landon be forced to choose a side? Can Soleil break through to Kemuel? Three tales, three choices: Light. Dark. Or the shades of gray between.

Which one will win?

Do you ever wonder about those tiny little influencers sitting on each shoulder?  The sliver of an angel and sliver of a devil coaxing your choices as they whisper in your ear trying to draw one towards the light or the dark side? I wasn’t sure what to expect as this isn’t my usual type of romance and the author is new-to-me, but I am so glad that I took a chance.  Each story can be read individually, but if read together in order, it is extraordinary.   The concept behind these stories are both clever and original.  There is a sweetness about them as well as moments that are thought provoking.

Influence of Love features Kale, the dark influencer who takes great pleasure in annoying light influencer Ariel. Theirs is a journey that looks at love vs. duty.  It is a very quick read at only a few chapters and I would have loved to see more story development.

Balance of Love is perhaps my favorite.  Antonia “Tony" is a little spitfire  light influencer with a rebellious nature and warmth.  Dark influencer, Landon finds himself inexplicably drawn towards her and it leaves him flustered.  These two were fun to read about as they question their actual role in the war between Angels & Demons and discover love. This short story is more flushed out which is perhaps why it is my favorite.  I also really enjoyed the underlying theme.

Revelation of Love is another divine story in this collection.  Soleil is the sweetest dark influencer and she just radiates compassion and kindness.  Kemuel cracks me up.  He is an Angel who ventures down to the human realm as a light influencer and the poor alpha male is entirely clueless.  These two had an interesting dynamic between them and I really enjoyed the plot of the story. There was a smatter of humor along with action which I found entertaining. I do wish that there were a few more chapters to further develop their relationship.

Overall, I really enjoyed this quick, fun, and sweet read with its interesting characters, unique plot, and beautiful underlying themes.  In life, as much as we would desire it to be so, not everything is black and white.  Rather that ultimate beauty and balance can be found in those shades of grey.

If you answered mostly A, you are an Influencer of Light. You want to see the best in people and strive to ensure they make the right choices, which are obvious to you. Why wouldn’t all correct choices be Light?

If you answered mostly B, then you are an Influencer of Dark. You’re not really evil, per say. You just know mischief is the best way to have fun. And if that turns a soul to darkness, that’s just an added bonus.
